The Japanese tea ceremony, introduced by a Zen priest in the 16th century as a spiritual practice, is used in modern times to celebrate special occasions. Japanese Consul General Takuji Hanatani invited special guests to his residence on Jan. 20 to observe this 400-year-old tradition.
