The Korea Trade Promotion Corp. (KOTRA), a government agency of the Republic of Korea, officially opened an office for the Southeast U.S. June 2 in the Marquis Tower downtown with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The Korea Trade Center joins a network of more than 80 KOTRA offices in 67 countries, including eight in the U.S.  Young Don Choi, who has served in Washington D.C. and Chicago, is the director.

“The opening of this office is a strong, positive statement from Korea about what they see happening in the Southeast,” said Eugene Hanratty, executive director of the Korea-Southeast United States Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Hanratty added that the Center will facilitate trade and investment into and out of Korea, and will provide market research and personalized services for companies that wish to import from or export to Korea.
