The president of Atlanta-based ANI Communications LLC is currently in Ethiopia coordinating scheduling and press details for U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk‘s mission to the East African country.

Alicia Ingram, who leads ANI, will be traveling in the country until Aug. 10. She was selected by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to smooth out communications issues prior to Mr. Kirk’s arrival.

Mr. Kirk and his delegation landed in Addis Adaba, Ethiopia’s capital, on Friday, Aug. 7. They are coming from Nairobi, Kenya, where Mr. Kirk attended the eighth annual U.S.-Sub-Saharan Africa Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum. The event is commonly known as the AGOA Forum, a prominent dialogue between high-level U.S. and sub-Saharan Africa officials.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was also in Kenya as part of her seven-country mission to Africa, but she did not travel to Ethiopia with Mr. Kirk.

In Ethiopia, Mr. Kirk will meet with officials to discuss bilateral trade “as well as Ethiopia’s bid for accession to the World Trade Organization,” according to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative Web site. On Saturday, Aug. 8, he will visit a footwear factory, highlighting an industry that has shown promise for AGOA exporters, the Web site said.
