Mitsubishi Electric‘s U.S. cooling and heating division has opened a new 550,000-square-foot headquarters in Suwanee, its fifth faciility since landing in Gwinnett County in 1992.

The company plans to hire more than 100 engineers at the new facility, adding to a U.S. employee base of more than 300 as it serves customers here and abroad.

“We’re investing in Georgia so we can be more competitive and quicker to market,” says Kenichiro Yamanishi, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Electric Corp. in Tokyo, said in a news release. “This warehouse will hold literally tons of product ready to ship anywhere in the Americas. Our engineering center will host a wide depth of talent. Products designed and stored here will not only serve the U.S. market but the global market as well.”

The cooling and heating division has posted double-digit growth in each of the last five years, officials said in the release.
