A Georgia-based firm has been approved to sell new models of its oxygen equipment in Brazil, the latest step on the path toward expanding international sales as COVID-19 continues to spotlight expanded need globally.

CAIRE Inc., based in Ball Ground, Ga., launched two new products in Brazil in July after receiving the go-ahead for from ANVISA, the Brazilian health regulatory agency.

“During the past two years, the COVID-19 pandemic oxygen shortages throughout South America have underscored the need to expand CAIRE’s portfolio of equipment available to providers to serve patients prescribed oxygen as they are discharged from the hospital,” said Barry Hassett, Vice President of Global of Marketing.

The Companion 5 and NewLife Intensity 10 stationary oxygen concentrators are larger units designed for patients with higher-flow oxygen prescriptions. They offer wheels providing mobility throughout the home for daily activities.

Four of CAIRE’s products are already on offer in Brazil — mainly portable systems and at least two optimized for travel that can draw in and filter ambient air, removing the need for a tank or refills of liquid oxygen.

CAIRE isn’t new to exporting: Its made-in-Georgia concentrators are sold all over the world; the NewLife Intensity 10 has been deployed in more than 100 countries.

The company has been deeply involved in the delivery of oxygen systems around the world during the pandemic, including stepping up to expand access during a desperate shortage in India through its commercial products division, AirSep. Its commitment to serving customers through expanded production in Georgia earned the company a visit from Gov. Brian Kemp and economic development leaders at the Cherokee County global headquarters and factory in September 2020.
