NCR Corp., which is known for making ATMs but also provides services, has been named one of the top firms in the world for information-technology outsourcing.

The Duluth-based company climbed two spots to No. 6 on the Global Outsourcing 100, its highest ranking ever on the list of industry heavy-hitters.

NCR prides itself not only on reacting to needs of clients employing the company to manage networks and software, but also on its ability to anticipate problems and keep machines and programs running smoothly, Executive Vice President and Chief Quality Officer Peter Dorsman said in a news release.

Including a center in Peachtree City, the company operates 16 Services Centers of Excellence around the world, which are equipped with technical and consumer help desks staffed by speakers of multiple languages.

NCR provides services to 19 of the top 20 banks in the world and three of the top five airlines, according to the news release.
