The U.S. Commerce Department’s Minority Business Development Agency has announced that networking sessions for minority-owned businesses interested in expanding internationally will be held quarterly.

Joann J. Hill, the agency’s international trade coordinator, told GlobalAtlanta that the success of its international trade day Aug. 20 at the World Trade Center Atlanta downtown prompted the scheduling of more international networking events.

She said that the next event is to be held sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

“The intense networking that took place during the session was the catalyst for launching this new initiative,” she said.

Representatives of the international departments of Regions Financial Corp., Summit National Bank Corp. and SunTrust Banks Inc. attended the event.

International Trade Association, University of Georgia Small Business Development Center, U.S. Export Assistance Center and U.S. Small Business Administration joined the agency as sponsors.
