Tony Maddox, former senior vice president of news operations for CNN International, was named executive vice president and managing director.
Replacing Chris Cramer, who is retiring, Mr. Maddox assumes responsibility for five CNN services in English, CNN en Espanol, CNNj, CNN.com International, CNNArabic.com, the joint ventures CNN+, CNN-IBN and CNN Turk, as well as international newsgathering and editorial and programming.
He is based in Atlanta at CNN world headquarters and reports to Jim Walton, president of CNN Worldwide.
Previously, Mr. Maddox was responsible for CNN’s 26 international bureaus and international news for the CNN Worldwide organization. He also managed the international news desk in Atlanta and supervised recruiting and staff training.
