Newell Rubbermaid Inc. has appointed Magnus Nicolin as president of its newly created Asia-Pacific division.
The Atlanta-based global consumer products company has established the Asian division’s commercial headquarters in Hong Kong and its sourcing base in Shanghai, China.
Mr. Nicolin, who joined the company in 2006, will retain his position as president of the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Newell Rubbermaid has 3,700 employees in Asia and sees the region as “one of the strongest growth opportunities for our company at this time,” said President and CEO Mark Ketchum in a news release. The Fortune 500 company had $6 billion in sales worldwide in 2008, $350 million of which came from Asia.
