Sixteen fifth-year architecture students from Notre Dame University will work this semester at Las Catalinas, the Costa Rican beach development by Atlantan Charles Brewer.

The students will focus on buildings on the peninsulas of Punta Penca and Punta Guachipelin.

Mr. Brewer, founder of Mindspring Enterprises Inc., an Internet service provider, which merged with Earthlink Inc. in 2000, is building a beach village on 1,200 hilly acres fronting the Pacific Ocean in Costa Rica’s Guanacaste province.

About 85 percent of the project, nearly 1,000 acres, will remain a natural preserve.

Seven two- and three-bedroom homes, priced from $545,000 to $996,000, are currently available to presale, according to a Las Catalinas news release.
