Israel-based Merlynet Communication Systems Ltd., a provider of Web-enabling solutions for call centers, announced the opening of its U.S. headquarters in Atlanta last week.

The Atlanta office will focus on marketing, professional services and sales for North America and will hire some 10 people within the next 12 months, according to a company statement.

Meanwhile, RichFX Inc., an Israeli e-commerce firm that allows customers to shop online using realistic 3-D visualization, is closing its Atlanta office.

A total of 46 Israeli companies now have operations in Atlanta, according to the America-Israel Chamber of Commerce Southeast Region (AICC).

Merlynet’s Web-enabled live customer interaction solutions enable call centers to connect to the Web simultaneous live interaction channels, including VoIP Call-Through, Call-Back, Live Video, Co-Browsing and Live Chat.

The company has a major presence in Israel, Mexico, Uruguay and the U.S.

A RichFX spokesperson told GlobalFax that the company has been “very pleased” with the Atlanta technology community and with its Atlanta office since it opened last year, but consolidating operations in New York, the company’s U.S. headquarters, will be more efficient.

The company is expanding its partnerships, however, including a new one with Inc., a subsidiary of The Reader’s Digest Association Inc., in which RichFX technology allows users to view products on the Web site that are more life-like, the spokesperson said.
