SUMMARY:Art of Diplomacy Tour of Cuba with Ambassador Charles Shapiro
DESCRIPTION:Curious about Cuba? Ambassador (ret.) Charles Shapiro and Amanda Mattingly are leading a trip to Havana June 12-16\, 2025 to meet with a wide range of Cuban academics\, artists\, small business owners and others to figure out what is going on and how the United States should respond. We will meet with the Acting U.S. Ambassador to Cuba as well as the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs (requested). The Cuban economy has been crushed by Covid\, U.S. sanctions and bad governance. In 2021 and 2024\, protests broke out and were repressed by the Cuban government. One thing is sure: the sound bites from the U.S. right and left miss the complexity of Cuba. We will meet in the Havana airport the late morning of Thursday\, June 12 and depart on flights the late afternoon on Monday\, June 16. We will stay in privately owned\, comfortable boutique hotels. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDownload Flyer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	From the archive:

SUMMARY:Art of Diplomacy Tour -- Cuba 2025
DESCRIPTION:The trip in January will be a 5-day policy trip to Havana. This will be an educational people-to-people exchange focused on Cuban culture and US-Cuba history\, relations\, and policy. Meet with Cuban entrepreneurs\, civil society reps\, artists and musicians\, academics\, diplomats at the US Embassy\, and (hopefully) a senior official from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs. See as much of Havana as we can and meet as many Cubans as possible! While Spanish language skills are great\, they are not necessary for this trip.  \n\n\n\nFor logistics on the ground in Cuba\, Arts of Diplomacy Tours partners with a private US company called Cuba Educational Travel (CET). You will get around Havana in  classic American cars and stay in beautiful\, privately-owned boutique hotels clustered in the neighborhood of Vedado. They are comfortable\, but not luxurious.  The rooms are comfortable and have private baths and air conditioning. \n\n\n\nWith enough lead time the schedule can be shaped to fit your interests.  On previous trips meetings were arranged with a senior surgeon\, a psychologist\, a professor at the school of art\, and a political insider as well as visited the synagogue and a hospital. \n\n\n\nThe trip assumes early afternoon arrival in Havana on Thursday\, January 23 and departure the late afternoon of Monday\, January 27. Participants will make their own flight arrangements. Delta and American fly to Havana through Miami. Other airlines have non-stop flights from Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale. For a specific itinerary visit https://www.globalatlanta.com/wp-content/uploads/ArtofDiplomacy-Cuba-Program-January-2025-itinerary.pdf \n\n\n\nThis trip meets all US government regulations for travel to Cuba by American citizens and permanent residents. The cost of the trip is $3\,250 single occupancy\, and $2\,750 double occupancy. \n\n\n\nFor more information\, please check out the flyer for the January trip attached below in the Download Flyer button.  Attached is a tentative itinerary for January and the sales agreement to sign up. \n\n\n\nIf you are interested\, please send a deposit of $1\,000 via check to secure your spot. (Click the Learn More link below) \n\n\n\nBe sure to check out this short Cuba video produced by Jonathan Gabriel of Arrhythmia Films\, who went to Cuba with us last January. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more and register\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDownload Flyer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	From the archive:
