This topic discusses the ways ecosystems can be a tool for effective climate action and the ways in which we protect them. \n\n\n\n\nEnvironmental Justice & Climate Justice\n\n\nClimate change is a human and civil rights issue. Environmental injustice\, including climate change\, disproportionately affects communities of color and low-income communities. The Environmental Justice and Climate Justice topic incorporates anti-racism as an essential component of effective climate action while discussing the Black Lives Matter movement and global equality issues through the lens of climate change. \n\n\n\n\nCOVID-19 & Green Recovery\n\n\nThe COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally altered life on a global scale\, underscoring inequality and illustrating vulnerability to climate change. The COVID-19 and Green Recovery topic explores how equity and climate action can be incorporated into economic and societal COVID-19 recovery plans\, with emphasis on plans currently being enacted in Europe. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n	From the archive:

SUMMARY:Accelerated Digital Transformation of Manufacturing in a Post-Pandemic World
DESCRIPTION:The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a perfect storm of disruption to supply first\, then to demand\, and finally to working practices around the world of manufacturing geography. Importantly it is shifting the debate from globalization to digitalization. Is has also created a unique opportunity to get rapid traction on digitalization of production processes. This webinar looks at the proving grounds where the most agile businesses can address restrictions on travel shutdowns of physical supply lines and factory operations. \nMany of these firms have already established flexible digital and robotic process automation platforms and should be able to build on these achievements. The unfolding crisis is also fostering new IT industry leaders rethinking the nature of production work. More productive ways of conducting the same jobs are coming to light with a ripple effect on manufacturing digital roadmaps. \nThis virtual workshop\, divided in two panels\, is designed to offer attendees the unique perspective of manufacturing leaders and practitioners in select industry sectors at a key inflexion point in the global crisis. Key questions addressed: Best sourcing strategies\, essential digital building blocks\, workforce skill gaps and adaption\, industry sector winners and losers\, best platforms to power digitalization\, potential for reshoring and emerging patterns of global competition. \nExpected participants will be senior business professionals from industry\, CIOs\, IT practitioners and researchers. Local and national organizations as well as media representatives will be invited.  \nConfirmed/Invited* Speakers (as of 07/07/20) \n\nMr. Stuart C. SUMMARY:Strategic Infrastructure Dialogue: GT Smart Cities Conference
DESCRIPTION:The term ‘smart cities’ was first used in its modern sense in the 1990s. Yet\, as of today\, no city around the globe can claim to have successfully integrated a holistic smart cities approach.  \nOne explanation is that there has been a disconnect between smart cities technologies and the residents of the communities these technologies are supposed to serve.   \nThe Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) will hold a two-day Smart Cities Dialogue on May 7-8\, 2019 to help frame the debate on this paradigm. It will discuss how to develop smarter communities that understand urban life primarily as a social\, and only secondarily as a technical and logistic ecosystem. Topics will capture inclusive engagement\, smaller communities that may not see themselves as part of the “smart cities” effort\, social and socioeconomic mobility as well as connections within economic regions. \nIn addition to bringing together key national and international stakeholders from local governments as well as industry and academic leaders for a series of insightful discussions\, attendees will have the opportunity to experience ‘research in action’ and discover some of Georgia Tech’s latest solutions in this domain. \n\n\n	From the archive:
