Georgia Tech Researcher to Head New Samsung Center

Chang-Ho Lee, formerly with the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Georgia Electronic Design Center, is to head the Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co. Ltd. design center.

The center is to develop next generation radio frequency integrated circuit technology and is to be located at the Georgia Tech center at the university’s Technology Square campus in Midtown. It is to become the company’s principal North American research location and is to eventually include the development of a new packaging technology.

“Samsung’s choice of Atlanta as the location of its new research design center will be beneficial to all parties involved,” Dr. John Endicott, president of the Korea Southeast U.S. Chamber of Commerce and director of the Center for International Strategy, Technology and Policy at Georgia Tech, told GlobalAtlanta.

“…I am pleased that the U.S. Korea relationship can be fostered by such beneficial business and technology agreements. The naming of Georgia Tech researcher Chango-Ho Lee as the center’s head ad the Georgia Electronic Design Center as its venue will take full advantage of Georgia Tech as a research center for nanotechnology and other areas in which the Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co. sees its future.”

Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co. is a member of the Samsung Group, which recently surpassed Hyundai Group as the No. 1 business group in South Korea. The group is a global leader in semiconductor, telecommunication, digital media and digital convergence technologies. For more information, go to www.sem.sammsung.co.kr and www.gedcenter.org
