Carlos Cornejo, the Miami-based consul general of Peru, will be in Atlanta on Monday, June 22, to attend a luncheon during which he will discuss opportunities for conducting business in his home country.
The luncheon is to be held in honor of the daily nonstop, round-trip flights of Delta Air Lines to Peru’s capital of Lima, which are to be inaugurated on Wednesday, July 1.
According to Thomas Smith, Peru’s consul in Atlanta, the Delta flights will play an important role in developing Atlanta as a gateway to South America.
The Atlanta to Lima service follows recent daily, nonstop service from Atlanta to Guatemala City, Guatemala; Panama City, Panama; San Jose, Costa Rica; San Salvador, El Salvador and Caracas, Venezuela.
Delta also has signed a memorandum of understanding with Aero Peru to plan a relationship including sharing of facilities and passenger handling in jointly-serviced cities.
For more information about the luncheon, which may be attended only by invitation, call Mr. Smith at (404) 299-8234; fax, (404) 223-1886.
