Jorge Roman Morey, Peru’s consul general in Atlanta, has been recalled to Lima, his country’s capital, to serve as his government’s chief of protocol. Mr. Roman, who has served in Atlanta since 2008, is to be replaced by Francisco Rivarola, a career diplomat, on April 15.

The Peruvian-American Business Chamber of Georgia recently honored Mr. Roman with a reception during which he was presented with the Condor Award in recognition of his work on behalf of Peruvian nationals.

Rocio Del Milagro Woody, president of the chamber, and Richard Valladares, vice president, presented Mr. Roman with the award and acknowledged his participation in creating the first Peruvian business fair held in Georgia as well as several cultural events including the first Peruvian film festival.

He also received a resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives for his work and was named an honorary Georgia citizen and goodwill ambassador for Georgia by Georgia Secretary of State Bryan P. Kemp.
