The Robinson College of Georgia State University has announced that Jacobus Boers is to assume the position of assistant dean for international engagement effective Feb. 1, a new position to help provide the college strategic direction in its international activities.

Mr. Boers most recently served as director of the college’s Global Partners MBA and the Master’s of International Business programs. He was selected the Global Partners MBA Outstanding Professor in 2013, and has twice been a finalist for the Georgia State University Study Abroad Director of the Year. He is to continue as director of the Global Partners MBA program. 

His scholarship has focused on such issues as the use of social media to develop and evaluate critical thinking skills, the evaluation of hybrid learning models and large-scale simulation in teaching international business.

In addition to his career in academia, Mr Boers has built a consulting practice in strategy development and implementation for international business clients including multinational professional services, multilateral bank procurement, U.S. federal procurement, communications and public relations.

He received his bachelor’s of arts degree from the University of Pretoria in Pretoria, South Africa; a master’s of theological studies degree from Emory University and a master’s of business administration from Georgia State.
