Telscape International Inc., a Roswell-based provider of Internet and telecommunications services to Hispanics in the U.S. and Latin America, has united with an Austin, Texas broadband fiber optics company, C3 Networks, to reach over one-third of the population of Mexico and expand the companies’ customer base in the U.S.

“This alliance will dramatically increase communications across the U.S.-Mexico border and provide more opportunities for our customers on both sides,” Telscape’s investor relations specialist, Tina Griner, told GlobalFax.

Combining Telscape’s extensive Mexican network with C3’s services for internet service providers and large private users in Texas that need cross-border communications services will significantly expand both companies’ markets.

Telscape offers basic telephone and data services to areas with high Hispanic densities, including local and long distance telephone access, voice mail, call waiting and call forwarding, and plans to offer DSL Internet access by second quarter 2001.

Telscape also has offices in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.
