More people around the world will be able to see the ceremonies celebrating Hong Kong’s reversion to Chinese rule this week, thanks to a Scientific-Atlanta digital video compression system.
Hongkong Telecom, an official provider of telecommunications services to the event, has selected a PowerVuÆ MPEG-2/DVB digital video compression system to expand the number of satellite television channels it can support.
The addition of Scientific-Atlanta’s PowerVu system will enable Hongkong Telecom to expand its capacity to support around-the-clock broadcast quality video and audio signals for transmission and reception over satellite.
