Trade officials from Mpumalanga, a South African province adjacent to the port of Maputo, will be in Atlanta July 12-13 to promote trade and investment joint ventures with metro business leaders.

The South African American Business Association of the USA Inc. will host a luncheon on Monday, July 12, in the Crowne Plaza Hotel Atlanta-Ravinia at Perimeter Center for representatives of the Mpumalanga Investment Initiative (MII).

MII is a government-sanctioned trade and investment agency based in Nelspruit, South Africa, that offers “one-stop” assistance to potential investors and exporters.

While in Georgia, MII officials are particularly interested in meeting with representatives from the agricultural, chemical, steel, timber and tourist industries, said SAABA board member Francois Botha.

Formerly known as Eastern Transvaal, the Province of Mpumalanga is home to some of South African’s largest exporters, including Sappi Ltd., an international paper manufacturer; Highveld Steel and Vanadium Corp. Ltd. and Sasol Ltd., a global player in chemicals and fuels.

Mpumalanga is also the site of Kruger National Park, a 2 million hectare wildlife sanctuary established in 1898.

The luncheon will be held at Bistro 55 restaurant in the Crowne Plaza Hotel and costs $20. To make reservations, go to www.saabausa.com. For more information on MII, go to www.mii.co.za.
