Talks on the Trans-Pacific Partnership in Atlanta have extended into Friday, a sign to some that a breakthrough could be near on a deal that has been plagued by a variety of sticking points.

The Japanese press, citing unnamed sources, said Japan, Canada, Mexico and the U.S. had reached a breakthrough in negotiations Thursday by agreeing to a new percentage figure on rules of origin for the auto sector, though others are reporting that progress is still stalled as ministers go into an extra day of talks originally slated to end Thursday.

More to come as talks continue…
