The World Trade Center Atlanta will host a half-day seminar Thursday, April 21, on doing business in Latin America mainly focused on how to handle tax and legal challenges in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico from 8:00-11:30 a.m. There is no charge to attend.
“Business officials can expect to come away with some of the important issues on the legal and tax side and how to address them practically,” said Robert A. West, one of the presenters and an international attorney with the Atlanta office of the law firm of Womble Carlyle Sandridge and Rice PLLC.
Mr. West has represented clients in Brazil on legal matters over the past three years and is fluent in French, Spanish and Portuguese. He also is a member of the board of directors of the Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce of Georgia and the Advisory Council of Hemisphere Inc., the organization committee leading Georgia’s effort to attract the Free Trade Area of the Americas secretariat.
Joining Mr. West as presenters are Lionel B. Nobre and Michael R. Whitacre of BDO Seidman LLP, an accounting and consulting firm, with 35 offices and 250 alliances firms nationally, as well as offices in Brazil. Mr. Nobre, who is director of the BDO Seidman’s Latin America consulting services, is a Brazilian tax attorney with 14 years experience in cross-border Latin American international tax work and has advised U.S. clients on Latin America over the past three and a half years. Mr. Whitacre is head of the Atlanta office and a member of the firm’s international tax consulting group.
