Teodoro Maus, Mexico’s Consul General in Atlanta, has been assigned new responsibilities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Director General for the Program of Mexican Communities Outside of Mexico.
“This is a long title, I know,” said Mr. Maus, who has served in Atlanta for more than four years and has actively promoted Mexican cultural events in an effort to improve an understanding of his country’s history and peoples in the region.
In his new position, he will be responsible for organizing similar programs throughout the United States as well as promoting events for Mexican nationals in the U.S. who remain Mexican citizens.
He said that he felt his greatest accomplishment as Consul General was to bring the Mexican community in Georgia closer together. His wife and family will remain in Atlanta, and it is possible that he will return as Consul General under the new Mexican administration that will take over in December.
