Three Georgia companies are among the 132 honorees in 21 countries chosen by Ethisphere as the world’s most ethical companies in their respective sectors.
Columbus, Ga., was home to two of the three: Aflac Inc. in insurance and TSYS Inc. in credit services (shared with Visa Inc.)
Representing Atlanta, United Parcel Service Inc. was chosen for the transportation and logistics sector by Ethisphere, an organization which helps set international standards for corporate behavior.
The list denotes those firms that “truly go beyond making statements about doing business ‘ethically’ and translate those words into action.” Companies are chosen based on a rubric that weighs ethics and compliance programs, governance, corporate citizenship, ethics culture and leadership, according to the Ethisphere website.
