The Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago seeks investors for a four-star, 200-room luxury resort located on 20 acres near the island of Tobago’s Crown Point International Airport.
The Evolving TecKnologies and Enterprise Development Company Ltd., a state enterprise responsible for the development of light industrial estates in Trinidad and Tobago, launched its search with a request for proposals for the VGL Tobago Hotel and Spa on Feb. 11.
The Atlanta office of the public relations firm Golin Harris is publicizing the request and encourages interested parties to submit their proposals as soon as possible in view of a March 14, 2 p.m. deadline.
The development company was formed to encourage diversification of Trinidad’s non-energy sectors and to explore new economic opportunities for both local and foreign investors.
According to the government’s promotional materials, the property would by an appropriate investment for an investor/operator seeking a luxury Caribbean product backed by the government’s commitment to the development of the country’s tourism sector.
Incentives for the property include a tax exemption for 10 years on gains of profits; an accelerated depreciation on equipment owned by the hotel operator and a carry-over from a tax exemption period, if any, of any loss arising out of its operation.
The hotel and spa has 178 ocean front rooms with private balconies, 22 executive suites with outdoor Jacuzzis and private patios, conference and meeting facilities, outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, a health and fitness center and a luxury spa.
The property is exposed to 1600 meters, almost a mile, of beach front.
