Columbus-based payment processing firm TSYS Inc. has named a new head of its Brazil division.

David Duncan will become general manager for TSYS Brazil.  He previously worked in the company’s Asian division, primarily in China and Japan.

The current head of TSYS Brazil, Antonio Jorge de Castro Bueno, has been named director of business expansion for Latin America.

TSYS provides electronic payment processing services for both financial institutions and commercial enterprises.  The company services approximately 20 percent of card purchases in the U.S. and recorded sales of over $1.7 billion last year.

The shift comes as TSYS looks to enhance its position in the burgeoning Latin American payments market.  Brazil has one of the fastest growing such markets in the world, TSYS International President Gaylon Jowers said in a news release.

The company hopes to increase its client base in the country and expand its operations into neighboring markets, Mr. Jowers said.
