Columbus, Ga.-based Total System Services Inc., or TSYS, signed a deal Nov. 17 to provide Azerbaijan’s largest private bank with its credit card and payment-processing software.

Bank Standard, based in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku, manages about 1,300 corporate 25,000 individual accounts.

TSYS’s Prime 4 software is designed to speed up transaction processing and provide better fraud detection by identifying suspicious payments in real time.

Elchin Abdullayev, head of Bank Standard’s retail products division, said in a news release that the product’s ability to manage multiple brands of credit, debit and prepaid cards would enable the institution to better serve its customers.

He added that TSYS’s global and regional presence encouraged Bank Standard to make the deal.

TSYS operates in 85 countries worldwide, including seven of the 10 former Soviet Union republics that make up the Commonwealth of Independent States, of which Azerbaijan is a member.

Financial details of the TSYS-Bank Standard deal were not disclosed.
