High school and college students from throughout the Southeast U.S. will compete March 28 at Agnes Scott College in Decatur to see who knows the most about Japan and who can speak the best Japanese.
The annual Japan Academic Challenge is a quiz-show competition testing high school students’ knowledge of Japanese culture, grammar and language. On the same day, college students will compete in the Japanese Speech Contest. Participants give a memorized presentation in Japanese.
The contests are organized by the Japan-American Society of Georgia, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Georgia, the Georgia Association of Teachers of Japanese and the Consulate General of Japan.
Deadline to register for the high school competition is March 6. Deadline is March 13 for the college speech contest.
