U.K.-based Sage Group plc, which develops business software, will put its North American headquarters in Midtown, eventually creating 400 jobs at a new innovation hub.

The British firm’s new space is to complement its existing operation in Lawrenceville and will focus on supporting Sage Life, a real-time business analytics and accounting application developed on the Salesforce platform.

Upon filling the new Midtown jobs, first in sales, then in marketing, customer service and research and development, the company will have a combined 1,000 employees in metro Atlanta. The company will enlist the University System of Georgia to recruit talent.

Sage is publicly traded on the London Stock Exchange and posted 2014 revenues of £1.3 billion (about $2 billion). The announcement marks another technology coup for Midtown, which has become a magnet for firms looking to be close to a strong talent pool and a variety of cultural amentiies.

The company is based in Atlanta’s British sister city, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England.
