The University of South Carolina at Aiken is now requiring that all business majors take a course in international business during their first year of enrollment.
This additional requirement was requested by students and area employers, according to a survey taken by a committee of business faculty members.
Recently, the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) urged its members to emphasize certain areas of expertise to their students, including understanding how international trade works.
The USC survey showed that students and employers agreed with the AACSB suggestions. The survey results are also causing the school to require first year students to take a course in entrepreneurship.
