The U.S. Export Assistance Center (USEAC), the Atlanta-based national and state agency helping companies in the Southeast develop markets for exports, has opened its Center for Video Excellence, enabling international video conferencing from several locations around the world at the same time.

Sam Troy, USEAC’s director, told GlobalFax last week that the center’s new service is best described as a “video conference call.” The cost of using the equipment amounts to about $160 per hour, but that the agency would bill in 15-minute increments.

Mr. Troy has overseen the development of the U.S. Commerce Department’s Real-time Export Conferencing Network (RECoN), and said that he considers the new facilities as providing the most advanced video conferencing and research capabilities available today.

USEAC has moved to Suite 900, seven floors above its former office at 285 Peachtree Center downtown. Mr. Troy may be reached at (404) 657-1900 or samuel.troy@mail.doc.gov
