The U.S.-Israel New Media Business Exchange to take place in Atlanta July 25-26 will mark another step forward in the city’s development as a center for emerging technologies, according to Tom Glaser, president of the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce, Southeast Region.
Mr. Glaser told GlobalAtlanta that some 15 Israeli companies producing a wide range of cutting-edge software for advertising, gaming, virtual worlds, wireless applications, security and community-building technologies have been invited.
Five U.S.-based companies with emerging technologies also will be attending the exchange and will participate in pre-qualified meetings.
“This is a great opportunity for emerging new media-related companies to explore joint venture research and development, investment and marketing alliances,” Mr. Glaser said.
Turner Broadcasting System Inc. and Microsoft Corp. are joining the chamber in hosting the event that will be held on TBS’ Techwood campus downtown.
Among the North American companies that will be represented are Arris Group Inc., AT&T, Aurora Funds Inc., Comcast Interactive Capital, Cox Communications Inc., IDG Ventures, Intent Media Works Inc., Time Warner Inc., Warner Brothers and Veritas Venture Partners LLC.
A reception will be held at the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce at 6:30 p.m., which is open to the public, but registrations are required. Jim McCaffrey, executive vice president, operations and strategy at TBS, is scheduled to speak.
Mr. Glaser said that this business exchange would be the latest in a series of successful similar events that focused on other industry sectors such a broadband development with others in the areas of telehealth, energy and water and homeland security scheduled for the future.
“Our philosophy is to showcase companies in their early stages and promote relationships that will drive them to set up their headquarters here,” he said.
Sponsors of the event also include the Metro chamber, Delta Air Lines Inc., CarterBaldwin, Vyyo, Greenberg Traurig LLP, Arris, MIT Enterprise Forum and the BIRD Foundation.
