Vanderlande Industries Inc., a Dutch provider of conveyor systems with its North American base in Atlanta, has won a contract to install and maintain a system for a 1 million-square-foot warehouse for Urban Outfitters Inc. in Pennsylvania.
Vanderlande is best known locally for supplying the unseen network of conveyors that move and sort luggage in the bowels of the Atlanta airport, but it has also used its Marietta base to sell material-handling systems for post offices, warehouses and other settings throughout the Western Hemisphere.
The Urban Outfitters deal, the financial terms of which were not disclosed, is Vanderlande’s third project with the company. Warehouse construction is slated to begin in September 2014.
Urban Outfitters Inc. has 225 Urban Outfitters and 185 Anthropologie stores in the United States, Canada and Europe. It also operates Free People, which has 86 of its own retail stores while providing products to 1,400 other retailers.
