SUMMARY:GSU CSAD Global Read-A-Thon: Black Authors Showcase
DESCRIPTION:Join GSU for the CSAD Black History Month Authors Showcase featuring a special author discussion\, book signings\, and a post-event reception. \n\n\n\nGSU’s Center for Studies on Africa and Its Diaspora (CSAD)\, with funding from the Mellon IAS Collective\, is hosting a Black History Authors Showcase on February 25\, 2025\, from 6p-8p at the Georgia State University College of Law. \n\n\n\nThe event will be moderated by Rose Scott\, host of WABE’s Closer Look with Rose Scott\, and will feature a discussion with distinguished authors Kiese Laymon\, Myriam Chancy\, and Frank X Walker. The authors will explore themes of migration\, identity\, and heritage through the lens of the CSAD Global Read-a-thon theme\, “Roots: The Journey of Us\,”. \n\n\n\nIn both the Authors Showcase and Read-a-Thon\, we will celebrate global narratives about Africa and the African diaspora. Following the conversation\, attendees can purchase books from A Capella Books and have them signed by the authors. A reception with light refreshments will allow guests to mingle with the authors and fellow participants. \n\n\n\nThis event is part of the larger 2025 CSAD Global Read-a-Thon. This Read-a-Thon Author’s Showcase is in partnership with Atlanta’s A Capella Books.
