Global Atlanta

Global Atlanta is a digital news platform that has spent 30+ years telling the city’s international story and helping readers navigate the complexities of global business.

Atlanta is known for urban sprawl and geographic dislocation. Its international landscape is similarly fragmented. Global Atlanta is in the various words of our partners and readers — the “glue” or the “hub of the wheel” — offering a panoramic perspective built on our commitment to broad community coverage and a curated calendar knitting together the city’s international organizations.

Through our thoughtful blend of online advertising, in-person events and targeted services, our clients and annual partners reach a culturally diverse, influential audience of industry leaders and decision-makers deeply engaged in global business.

Description

THE LENS: While an established brand, Global Atlanta is evolving quickly to meet the demands of the new media landscape. We’re capitalizing on decades of experience while staying nimble, creative and value-driven. Our approach includes a focus on Relationship Reporting — the idea that we should be a constructive participant as well as a hard nosed observer of the city’s global business landscape. In short, we build community through content. We also embrace the idea of Grounded Globalism. We believe people will care about international affairs to the extent we can show how they’re entwined with local interests. This blend of local and global is core to what we do.

Job Responsibilities

The main task of the Editorial Intern will be to monitor news wires, source story ideas and write 5 news briefs per week published in The Daily News and Weekly Briefing newsletters. This newsletter aims to build a habit among readers, giving them a reason to return to our site regularly for the latest actionable international business news, events and jobs postings in the city.
Stories can often be sourced from news releases, but we always add journalistic value to rewrites by contacting at least one human source, referencing an early Global Atlanta story or surfacing insight from expert speakers at one of our events. Priority will be given to candidates who can distill context from content. The Editorial Intern may also pitch enterprise stories on top of their news brief duties. Candidates that show competence with digital platforms and photos/videos may be entrusted with some
building of newsletters, social media posting and multimedia production based on their appetite/availability. Beyond the core duties, this internship will be what you make it.
