The recent 33rd General Assembly of World Trade Centers Association in Halifax, Nova Scotia, provided an opportunity for Atlanta-based Market Access International Inc. to arrange one-on-one business meetings among some 500 World Trade Center members.

“The World Trade Centers are a great entré into international markets, and the general assembly can give Georgia firms access to numerous key markets around the globe,” MAI founder Diane Alleva-Caceres, told GlobalFax.

The general assembly is an annual meeting of the more than 320 World Trade Centers that link some 750,000 businesses worldwide. The Halifax assembly was the first one to take place in Canada. Participants represented 60 World Trade Centers in 44 countries.

The event included a trade show, which targeted sectors including oil and gas, aerospace and defense, fisheries and agriculture, environmental industries, home building, information technology and wood products.

Ms. Alleva-Caceres added that the international companies were very optimistic about potential partnerships with Atlantic Canadian firms.

The next general assembly will be held in Washington next fall. A spring meeting of the WTCA, which is not a full general assembly, is to take place March 29 – April 2 in Mumbai, India.
