Two Atlanta-based providers of security and network solutions for information technology companies announced last week that they are basing their European operations in Reading, England.
Internet Security Systems (ISS) announced that it opened a research and software development center, which is to act as the base for ISS’ professional services team for Europe.
In addition, Telemate.Net Software Inc., a provider of network intelligence for the Internet, announced that it had reached an agreement with Allasso, also headquartered in Reading. Allasso is a distribution company for the Integralis Group, a network security and integration specialist.
Michael Shingler, the British deputy consul general in Atlanta, told GlobalFax in a telephone interview that Reading was attractive to U.S. high-tech companies because of its accessibility to London Heathrow Airport and London.
Reading is at the heart of England’s “M3/M4 motorways technology corridor” and both Oxford and Reading universities are in the area.
ISS works closely with hardware and software vendors to uncover and correct potential security problems. It is a security advisor to more than 35 U.S. government agencies and 21 of the 25 largest U.S. commercial banks.
