Breakfast Meeting with Guest Speaker Economist Fausto Spotorno & discussion Chaired by Professor Tim Samples

Fausto Spotorno is a senior advisor to several multinational companies and investment funds. He is Research Director and Chief Economist for the firm Orlando Ferreres & Asoc. and Professor of Argentine Economy and Policy at the prestigious Catholic University of Buenos Aires (UCA). He has worked as Chief Economist for Delphos Investment and is a regular publisher in major newspapers and key speaker in specialized TV and radio shows.

Timย Samples is a professor of legal studies at the Terry College of Business. His research focuses on legal issues affecting international investment, particularly in the areas of sovereign finance and energy. Much of his work deals with Argentinaโ€™s experience with sovereign debt and investor-state disputes. Samples received a 2017-18 Core Fulbright grant to conduct research and teach in Argentina, where he taught courses on sovereign debt at the Facultad de Derecho (School of Law) at the Universidad de Buenos Aires. Most recently, Samples was lead author of an amicus brief to the United States Supreme Court for a case involving Argentina and YPF. Samples has been quoted by media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, Financialย Times, La Naciรณn, Diario BAE, Barron’s, Bloomberg, Los Angelesย Times, and BBC Mundo, and has also appeared on CNN en Espaรฑol, BBC World Service, and National Public Radio.
