Diplomatic Dialogue: A Breakfast Meeting with Javier Díaz de León, Consul General of Mexico

Join the Atlanta Council on International Relations (ACIR) for a Diplomatic Dialogue breakfast with Javier Diaz de Leon, Consul General of Mexico and Dean of the Atlanta Consular Corps. This ACIR program enables both member and non-member participants an opportunity to get to know Atlanta-based diplomatic representatives in an intimate setting.

ACIR’s Director of Diplomatic Outreach and Strategic Development, Mark Pierson, will start with a conversation with Consul General Diaz about his career, his work as the Dean, the contributions of the Mexican community to Georgia’s economy, and his projections for the baseball playoffs.  Mr. Pierson will then take questions from the attendees for Consul General Diaz.

About Ambassador Javier Díaz de León, Consul General:

Consul General Javier Díaz de León received his bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Universidad Iberoamericana and a Masters of Arts in International Conflict Analysis by the University of Kent, England.

He has been a member of the Mexican Foreign Service since 1991 and has held the rank of Ambassador since April 28th, 2017. His distinguished diplomatic career has included positions as Deputy Consul General in San Diego, Deputy Consul General in New York, Head of the Office for Migration and Hispanic Affairs at the Embassy of Mexico in the United States, and Executive Director of the Institute for Mexicans Abroad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Mexico City.

He served as Consul General of Mexico in Raleigh, North Carolina from June 2013 to May 2016 and has been the Consul General of Mexico in Atlanta since June 18th, 2016.
