Thomas Mann: DEMOCRACY WILL WIN!

Thomas Mann: Democracy Will Win! is intended as a concrete contribution to current debate on both sides of the Atlantic.
Thomas Mann, German writer and Nobel laureate, immigrated to California, and used the radio medium to spread thoughts on democracy to the German people during Nazi rule. In 1943, he addressed the Library of Congress with his famous speech: โIt is a terrible spectacle when the irrational becomes popular.โ
The first part of the exhibit presents Thomas Mannโs political biography. The second, multimedia part of the exhibit connects this history to the present.ย What makes a political person?ย How does one become a supporter of democracy?ย How does one defend oneโs stance?
