AGCO Corp. President and CEO Martin Richenhagen has been named 2009 chairman of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, an international trade group representing the off-road equipment manufacturing industry.

The association is headquartered in Milwaukee but has offices in Beijing; Brussels, Belgium; and Ottawa, Canada, representing the interests of more than 800 companies in the agriculture, construction, forestry, mining and utility sectors.

Mr. Richenhagen has led AGCO, a Duluth-based agricultural machinery manufacturer, since 2004.  AGCO sells its tractors, combines and other products worldwide through 3,000 distributors in more than 140 countries.

Mr. Richenhagen held executive posts in German and Swiss companies before joining AGCO.  The company in 2007 posted net sales of $6.8 billion, up from about $5.4 billion a year earlier.

According to the company’s third-quarter 2008 results, it posted year-to-date net sales of $6.2 billion and expects this year’s total tractor and combine production to eclipse that of 2007 by 18-19 percent.
