The Mexican government has honored Landis+Gyr AG, a Swiss company that has its North American headquarters in Alpharetta, with an energy efficiency award.

The company’s Reynosa, Mexico, facility received the award for energy savings in the mid-size company category.

Landis+Gyr produces meters and communications networks that tell energy companies how much electricity, water, gas and heat is being consumed.

Aubrey Williams, vice president of operations at the Mexican facility, said Landis+Gyr also monitors its own energy use.

“As a company committed to managing energy better, I am proud to say that we are equally committed to managing our own energy use as we are to helping our clients manage and measure energy resources,” said Mr. Williams in a news release.

The facility has implemented automated turn-off switches for its equipment and improved its heating and cooling systems through roof insulation and digital thermostats. Employees of the facility also visit schools to educate students on energy saving.

Landis+Gyr operates in 30 countries with 5000 employees worldwide. For more information, go here.
