An annual awards program recognizing Georgia exporters for expanding into new markets is seeking applications through March 31.

The GLOBE Award honors companies based in the state that have entered a new country in the preceding year with their products or services.

An event highlighting the award winners often includes a meet-and-greet with the governor and sometimes coincides with an annual visit by Georgia’s international representatives from the 12 markets where the state is recruiting investors and conducting market research and partner qualification on behalf of Georgia firms. This year’s winners will be notified in April.

Since the program launched in 2014, the state has awarded 296 GLOBE awards to firms across 45 counties.

Last year’s 25 winners got creative to enter 70 new markets cumulatively during 2021, a year in which the hangover from the pandemic still made traveling to meet customers difficult.

The award acronym stands for Georgia Leveraging Opportunities by Exporting.
