The Australian American Chamber of Commerce in Atlanta is to hold its annual Australian Ball at the J.W. Marriott at Lenox on Friday, Sept. 17 – a date that was chosen especially to mark the one-year countdown to the opening ceremonies of the Sydney Olympic Games.

Fund raising efforts associated with the event will assist wheelchair athletes from Australia and the U.S. to compete in the Roosevelt International Cup. This event, held at the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation in Warm Springs, provides an elite-level competition for athletes preparing for the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney.

The cost of being an official host for a table of 10 guests is $1,250. The corporate logos of official hosts are to be featured on all invitations and signage associated with the ball. Corporate donations for a silent auction also are being sought.

To learn more about the ball, call Ken McKenzie, the chamber’s treasurer, at (404) 261-0673, the chamber’s treasurer, or Keith Tanaka at Australia’s consulate general, (678) 686-4747.
