Avinandan (Avi) Mukherjee, currently chair of the marketing department at Montclair State University in New Jersey, has been appointed dean of the College of Business at Clayton State University. His appointment is effective Aug. 1.

Dr. Mukherjee, who received his doctorate in marketing at the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, India, has been a faculty member at Pennsylvania State University, the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and the Indian Institute of Management in Kolkata.

He also has been a visiting faculty member at Rutgers Business School in Rutgers, N.J., as well as the university’s campuses in Beijing, Shanghai, and Singapore.

Additionally, he has taught at INSEAD in France, Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, ESC Toulouse in France, Nordic International Management Institute in China and Kathmandu University in Nepal.

While at Montclair State, he has led a transformation of the marketing department, which resulted in its becoming the largest in the school in number of programs and number of graduating students. He also launched a new program focused on sports, events and tourism.

He is president of the Business and Health Administration Association and is the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Marketing.
