Columbus State University President Timothy Mescon is retiring and heading to the Netherlands, where he will start a regional headquarters for a nonprofit that supports university business schools globally.
After four years at the helm of CSU, Dr. Mescon beginning in January 2015 will be based in Amsterdam as the first senior vice president and chief officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa for the Tampa-based Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, or AACSB International.
The nonprofit already has an Asia office in Singapore but had no direct regional support for the 3,700 business schools in the region Dr. Mescon will cover.
During his tenure as CSU’s fourth president, the university launched its first doctoral program and the nation’s first graduate program in servant leadership.
Before arriving at CSU in 2008 Mr. Mescon spent 18 years as dean of the Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University.
