In what will be the first deployment of video-on-demand technology to digital cable television subscribers in Central America, a Concurrent platform has been chosen to provide video-on-demand for 15,000 subscribers in Panama.
Concurrent, which has its U.S. headquarters in Atlanta, is partnering with Panama’s premier cable provider, Cable Onda, to launch what Concurrent hopes will become the first of many contracts in Central America.
“Panama has long been considered the gateway to Latin America,” said Gary Trimm, Concurrent’s president and CEO. “There are over 15 million cable subscribers in Latin America, with 1.2 million in Central America and the Caribbean.”
He added that the launch represent’s Concurrent’s continued support in what he called a “lucrative” Latin American cable market.
