Delta Air Lines Inc. is working with Grupo Aeromexico to build an aircraft maintenance center at Intercontinental Airport in the Mexican state of Queretaro.

Located near an aerospace park and constructed with equal investment from both airlines, the project represents the newest chapter in their growing relationship. The center will have capacity to service seven aircraft simultaneously, allowing the airlines to reduce maintenance costs.

Delta in June invested $65 million to acquire a 4.17 percent stake in Aeromexico as part of an expanded commercial alliance.

Both companies are founding members of the SkyTeam airline alliance.

Delta is in the midst of a plan to become a more “Latin airline,” recently investing $100 million in Brazil‘s GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes and entering into a codesharing agreement with Aerolineas Argentinas.
