FinanzaDirecto, a Norcross-based company that is to launch operations in early 2001, will complete check cashing, money transfers, money orders and other pre-paid financial services for the Mexican population of Atlanta.
“We are the first company that is going to utilize the Internet to complete these transactions,” Gilberto Goyzueta, vice-president, told GlobalFax in an interview. “Our market is used to doing these transactions in a very different way. These people cannot make a wire transfer because they do not have bank accounts.”
The company is a spin-off of Directo Inc., a financial services provider that targets corporate employers and customers without access to traditional banking services.
Mr. Goyzueta said that FinanzaDirecto’s services are to be user-friendly for the Mexican population by offering a combination of online and offline services delivered through retail stores with bilingual employees.
FinanzaDirecto plans to open stores and kiosks in Chamblee, College Park, Decatur, DeKalb and Norcross, among other locations accessible to substantial Mexican populations.
