Meet Our Speaker

Urs Brönnimann, Consul General, Switzerland

Born in 1960 in Switzerland, Urs Brönnimann grew up in the Canton of Berne. He graduated with a Commerce Diploma and holds a Diploma in Advanced Studies in International Relations.

Prior to joining the Swiss Federal Government, he worked in the Cantonal Administration of Berne. He joined the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in 1982 and worked as a Consular Officer in France and Peru. He later on held positions as
Head of Chancery at the Consulate General of Switzerland in Chicago, IL and at the Embassy of Switzerland in Cuba, Ireland and Bolivia. He was then appointed Head of Commercial Service at the Embassy of Switzerland in Washington D.C. and subsequently as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Switzerland in Costa Rica and Hungary, before being appointed Consul General of Switzerland in São Paulo, Brazil.

Urs Broennimann arrived in Atlanta in July 2022. His jurisdiction as the Consul General in Atlanta includes the States of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and the Cayman Islands.

Urs Broennimann speaks German, French, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. He is married to Katrin Broennimann-von Gruenigen and has two sons.
